Thursday - June 2nd

Agenda:

1) Complete the
REVIEW CHECKLIST

2) Work on your review assignments. If popplet still doesn't work, create one at home and place in your googledocs folder. I will be printing them for monday. Work on your Chemistry Review again.
Important things to consider:
- What are atoms made of?
- What is the charge of each subatomic particle?
- Why are atoms arranged in a periodic table?
- What are periods? What 2 elements in the same period have in common?
- What are groups? What 2 elements in the same group have in common?
- What is the atomic number of an atom? What is the atomic mass of an atom? How can you find the number of neutrons of an atom?
- How are metals, nonmetals and metalloids arranged in the periodic table? Compare/contrast them.
- Why elements tend to gain/lose/share electrons?
- Where, in the periodic table, are the elements that tend to lose electrons?
- Where, in the periodic table, are the elements that tend to gain electrons?
- What happens when one element loses an electron to another? What kind of bond is formed? What keeps the elements together?
- Why would 2 elements share electrons instead of gain/lose? What kind of bond is formed in this situation? What keeps the elements together?
- What is the difference between a polar and a non-polar molecule? What are examples of each?
- How do you know if a chemical reaction takes place?
- How do you compare endothermic and exothermic reactions? Remember the graphs we used to represent them.
- How are chemical reactions classified? Think of examples of each.
- What is the difference between coefficient and subscript?
- How can you speed up a chemical reaction?
- How can you slow down a chemical reaction?
- How would you relate the law of conservation of matter to the topic 'balancing equations'?
